![]() With masos, I never EVER got clean loops on my own sampling. I'd cart in a few 10-packs of blank floppies a couple times a week and just stand there for an hour, copying the latest Mirage sound stuff LA guys were trading.almost as much fun as swapping custom linndrum chips Bought most every factory disk, the masos disk(s).routinely walked into GC Hollywood where they'd let me copy their increasingly h-u-g-e library of user floppies that were sitting back there. I bought my two Mirages new as soon as they were released. Of course, that's not the same as some of the commercial libraries that we've seen elsewhere. I didn't look too closely at the CD in the link you provided, but it wouldn't surprised me if that's what was on that CD-ROM. Ironically, the Future Music CD in the link you provided may fall under "free" and "royalty free" use, since Future Music has (and still does) released thousands of samples free for personal use over the years. I love the sound of old samplers, but not enough to spend hours determining the pitch, mapping samples and re-creating loop points and envelopes. I'd rather buy samples made specifically for my Kurzweil or some of the Arturia emulations (if Arturia ever updates them to read all the sample/patch data properly). WAV files is.well, life's just too short. I was more interested in any sounds that may have been released by the individual users who created them, "abandoned" by the original copyright holder ("Go and enjoy these samples in peace, my son"), or where the copyright holder(s) can't be found because they're hiding out in Argentina or whatever.Īnd others) suggest, dealing with thousands of individual raw. , I know some of the libraries in the repository are copyrighted, and I'm not too interested in stepping on those toes. So, you'll need to do your own just diligence in researching any copyrights: Not sure if that works for your purposes, I suspect some of the files in this sample CD repo are copyrighted. They're just wav files, so, it will be a pain to manually assign each file to their respective note/note range if building the instruments within a sampler. ![]() The ones I've tested so far decompress fine. ![]() Now, the real question is if it's worth spending the coin to get the full version of CDXTRACT so I can extract/convert all of these Akai ISO instruments? I'll need to think long and hard on that one.Īlternatively, I found a large collection of sample CDs. Thanks for clarifying, downloaded the demo of CDXTRACT, loaded it into my Windows VM and was able to mount and read those ISOs, as well as convert some instruments to Kontakt without a hitch.
